So I re-discovered this African proverb when I re-read Amy Rosenthal’s quirky, witty, unique Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life: A good soup attracts chairs.
Pinpoint evocative, isn’t it? The five words conjure a picture, a movie, chair legs scraping, sniffs, satisfied and anticipatory smacking of the lips – almost like a spell.
