Wish I’d thought of that…

Polly LaBarre, author of Mavericks at Work, calls the bombastic bombardment of hollow, meaningless terms so common in business and academia “jargon monoxide”.

I absolutely adore that term. Jargon monoxide – an insidious poison that replaces meaning and impact with empty space, seemingly filled. The analogy with carbon monoxide is just so apt.
